Today our President stepped into the White House Briefing Room, by all accounts unexpectedly, and spoke ahead of White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.The President did not appear to have a teleprompter or more than a handful of notes. He spoke candidly and genuinely about a variety of topics that relate directly, indirectly, or tangentially to the Trayvon Martin tragedy. He wasn't angry, hyperbolic, or working to further a political or ideological agenda. His words appeared to be from the heart, and they were some of the most if not the most intellectually honest and even-handed I've seen on such subjects thus far. They brought tears to my eyes. Thank you, Mr. President.
